Nintendo is gearing up for an exciting end to 2024 with a slew of new releases for the Switch. During this Tuesday's Nintendo Direct, the Japanese gaming giant rolled out a host of upcoming titles, including brand-new games and revived classics from other consoles.

New Adventures with Mario & Luigi and Zelda

The event opened with a bang, announcing a fresh installment in the Mario & Luigi series. Titled Fraternal Connection, this game is set to hit the Switch on November 7th. Fans of the dynamic duo can look forward to a new adventure filled with humor and action. Zelda fans received thrilling news as well.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, Zelda herself will be the main protagonist in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. With Link mysteriously missing, it's up to Zelda to save Hyrule. This game, which adopts the charming aesthetic of the 2019 Link’s Awakening remake, is slated for release on September 26th.

A Sneak Peek at Metroid Prime 4

After being announced in 2017 and subsequently undergoing a development reboot, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is now scheduled for a 2025 release. The anticipation continues to build for this iconic sci-fi series.

Classic Games Make a Comeback

Nintendo is not just focusing on new titles. They are also revamping beloved classics. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, originally a Wii game, will be re-released with updated graphics on January 16, 2025. The popular party game series Mario Party is getting a new addition called Jamboree, featuring over 110 minigames set in a vacation resort. This fun-packed game will be available on October 17th.

Virtual Console and More

Nintendo’s virtual console is expanding. Game Boy Advance titles like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords and Metroid: Zero Mission are coming soon. For Nintendo 64 enthusiasts, mature titles such as Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Perfect Dark will be added to the lineup.

Third-Party Highlights

Capcom is releasing a nostalgic bundle of seven arcade games, including their classic Marvel fighting collaborations. They also announced Ace Attorney: Investigations Collection. Square Enix is bringing Dragon Quest HD-2D-Remake to the Switch on November 14th, with the first two adventures of the series arriving in 2025.

Funko Fusion will let players dive into adventures with pop culture icons like Marty McFly and Scott Pilgrim, releasing on June 13th. New titles such as Mio: Memories in Orbit, a Hello Kitty game inspired by Animal Crossing, and Looney Tunes: Wacky World Sports are also in the pipeline.
