The Lombardi trophy is named after former Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi. He successfully led his team to victory in the first two Super Bowl games.

Many teams have colors that they frequently use. Historically, the Chiefs have used orange and purple. The 49ers have used clear. However, red is the color of both teams and has never been used before, so this year might make history.

Football fans are expected to collectively drink around 325.5 million gallons of beer on Super Bowl Sunday. That's 5% of the annual 6.4 billion gallons!

The Super Bowl halftime performers are never paid for their performances. While the NFL does take care of travel expenses and fees for technical needs, the headliner does not earn any money. There is one exception, where the NFL and Frito-Lay provided a sizeable donation to Michael Jackson's Heal the World Foundation in exchange for his performance.

It shouldn't be much of a surprise that one of the team that played in the most Super Bowl games also has had the most repeat opponents. The Steelers and Cowboys competed against each other in 1976, 1979, and 1996. The Steelers currently have the lead.
