Perhaps the funniest thing about this is that Max McGee didn't even expect to play in the tournament. He was already 34 at the time, so he was only going to be put in if someone got hurt. He partied the night before and didn't even bring his helmet.

When he got called in to the game after Boyd Dowler got hurt, he didn't expect to be of much use. As he tells it, "I stuck my hand back just to try to break up the interception, and the damned ball stuck to the palm of my hand. I had no idea I was trying to catch it."
